I love coming home after a trip, everything seems slightly different. My house is more spacious and for some reason smells like new paint, but it's probably just fumes from a mobile meth lab.  Another successful family vacation... the girls had a wonderful time and created lots of lasting memories. I created a video montage of our trip only to discover that the song I used as the soundtrack had the F-word in it  twice. I thought they were saying "we don't give a fuuuun". Just pretend like you didn't notice.

Hello from vacation! The weather is here, wish you were beautiful. It's been in the 80's and sunny every day which never happens!  I am such a B  I had to leave the entire family during breakfast to come in to the metropolis that is Pillager to walk the high school track and download photos. If you are wondering why I don't just walk near the lake, clearly you have never been dived bombed by horseflies who are working in tandem with mosquitoes to distract you so the mosquitos can devour your ankles. Also, I think you know how I feel about eating big breakfasts...I can not eat like that and keep my dainty frame. I am at the Shanty drinking blueberry pomegranate iced tea, but am having trouble concentrating because the radio is on loud so do forgive if me I can not stay focused.

Everyone is here except Jaimie who had to stay and work on the farm this week but Charlie brought his new girlfriend, Sam, who Nori described as "so adorable". We have  been eating, reading, playing, swimming, boating, camp fire-ing, crafting, scratching, crying, running, biking, and sleeping. I mean not all of us have done all of those things, but at least one of us has done at least one of those things. Or possibly more than one. We celebrated Jake's birthday after I smuggled a DQ ice cream tennis cake up on dry ice and then we celebrated Liz's birthday with cupcakes the next day So far we have made cheeseburgers, pulled pork sandwiches with spicey slaw, stuffed shells, and tonight fish tacos. How was your ham sammy? Anyway, I am tan as never which is good for my skin but bad for picking up guys which is actually good for my marriage so it's really all good. Nori &  Hen love the water and swim their cute little butts off! It's so cool they can grow up having awesome trips like this with their family! I meant it's not all awesome, like when I blew up at my mom when she arrived with 10 bags of groceries to make two breakfasts but maybe that is my issue. Whenever I get those bad feelings, I just tell myself "Megan, your issues are bothering you, don't freak. They are just your issues and they will go away". Sometimes it works better than others. Also, the bugs and the waking up at 5:30 with the kids is hard, but slamming the frozen daiquiris and jumping in the lake part makes up for it (geez don't freak, I am fine and always wear a flotation device.) So in summary, it's wonderful expect when I spaz but then I recover and it's better.  Also, we made a video, more of documentary really with commentary on the cabin fashion scene.

If there is a prize for most calories consumed in one weekend, I would win. While you were eating kale and reading scholarly journals, I was living large. Large as in my new pants size. On Thursday night we had a work function at Sally's where I cleaned house on nachos (mistake #1).  Friday our birth family was in town and we took them to Como Zoo to visit the flood escapees from their zoo in Duluth. We also met Baby Eben who is now 3 months old and has lots of cute hair. Nori was super brave -- she went the on a tea cup ride all by herself. Afterwards, we came back to our house to talk and ordered in Chinese (mistake #2). It was nice to catch up and see how well they are doing with their new addition! That evening Jake baked the best chocolate chip cookies of my life (mistakes #3-12).  On Saturday we met up with Papa Bill, Casey and Jaimie at my Dad's house for some fun in the sun. Henny showed no fear of the water as she walked right off the edge of the deck into the pool. We have to be on our toes with that one. After a quick naptime at home, we headed over to Ho's for another pool party with 5 other little girls. Little girls,little girls...I think Missy felt like Mrs. Hannigan in Annie tending so many little needs. My little girls had a blast and Nor even slept in until 7:00 a.m. which is a record. Yesterday Abby and Jill came over to babysit so Jake and I could have our first date in several months. Oh alone time, why are you so elusive? It was not exactly romantic as we took a long, sweaty bike ride in the heat but we did stop for lunch at Sea Salt (mistake #13)and once to chill in the shade and look at the river. Later, Grandma Liz, Grandpa Steve, Ellen & Mal came over and went headed out to Groveland Tap (#14) followed by cones at DQ (#15) . It's like I think I am on an episode of Man vs Food.  Megan, put down the fork!

My daughters were a real joy this weekend, so many sweet moments, long hugs, and little laughs. They are playing together more now which is so so so adorable. Every morning when I am nursing Henny, Nori comes up to kiss her and comments on how "cute" she is. This is shortly before she decides she "needs to help her get milk" and start squeezing on my boob.

Off to the gym...
