Welcome back to another installment of "I cleaned my bathrooms and I have cute kids". This week we did the same things as usual, listen while I recount them in exact detail! A little known woman named Gramsie came to visit on Thursday as she needed cheering up due reasons I can not disclosure (witness protection program). Cue granddaughters who showered her with love and poop. Jill visited and later Casey & Jaimie joined Friday night when Nori performed a modern dance recital for them. On Saturday, shopping and napping ensued. Saturday night I continued my new tradition of going out on the town, this time attending Kelly's baby shower at Spill The Wine! (You may remember Kelly from her blog about waiting to adopt babies from China and Thailand? She has since made her blog private because she does not want the greasy likes of you reading it, but I'll fill you in...they are hoping to travel to Thailand this winter or early spring to bring home their daughter! Yay!!). This morning, we "hiked" at Minnehaha Falls and spent the rest of day getting ready for another week. At the current moment daughter #1 is in her room going on 4 hours until she attempts to pick up her stuffed animals and books, daughter #2 is taking one of her patented 20 minutes power naps while my only husband just declared he wants to have a breakdown because I forgot to buy sweet potato fries at the store. This is the stuff romance novels are made of.

I am finally starting to feel like myself again for the first time. I remember my wise friend Stacey telling me it took her a full year get back to normal after each kid. True, my birthing hips still kill but I am starting to feel human and slightly re-energized for doing things other than just surviving. My newest project is to turn our craptastic guest room into a playroom for the girls. We already bought a daybed so we can still have guests, but I think the space can serve other functions other than junk holding. Now, I just need to find time to paint & decorate the new, old space! I am trying to reclaim my domestic domain and no longer be tormented by heat, cold, , leaks, floods, or bad decor in this old house. Go me(gan).

My girls had their first fight today. They were snuggling on the platmat when Henley grabbed Nori's hair and laughed. Nori became distraught yelling, "she pulled my hair and was happy about it!"

Loved this weekend!! It was borderline (personality disorder) perfect. Friday we hung with my Dad at our house. That night the babes went to bed easily and Jake & I ate cookie dough on the couch watching Dexter... pretty much our perfect night. On Saturday, we took the girls to Amodt's Apple Farm and the weather was cool and crisp, perfect for babies in slings and caramel apples. Afterwards we met up with Casey & Jaimie at Starbucks in Stillwater to view and order some wedding photos. Came home to find Grandma Liz here who babysat while I napped. Do see how great this was? Wait, it stays good! Later my kids went bonkers when Grandpa Steve, Aunt Ellen, Uncle Charlie, and friends came over for Carbone's pizza. I then got ready and went out with my girlfriends Ang & Missy for wine and dinner at Scusi. Oh baby, they were BIG glasses of wine (that I regretted at 2:00 a.m. but that is beside the point). We spent three plus hours together uninterrupted, just talking and laughing. My favorite part of the night was when we pulled up to Cafe Latte and Missy saw a block of Styrofoam on the curb and declared, "Look, there's snow!". Today we are lounging, snuggling babies, cleaning, and cooking in preparation for another week of the grind. I like weekends.

Don't let the smiles fool you, these three are a handful!

If you are currently or have even been the parent of small children, all I can say is God bless you. It would be fairly accurate to say that Jake & I have spent over 90% of the weekend reading books, cuddling, bathing, playing with, and feedings girls (fun) or cleaning house, washing clothes, picking up toys, folding clothes, soothing, diffusing tantrums, grocery shopping or otherwise working for our little bosses. Mondays don't seem so bad!

Jake & I were remembering 9/11 and trying to understand how people could have so much hate in their hearts that they are willing to not only kill but die because of it. Nori overheard and wanted to know more about the planes and building (she thought it was Daddy's building downtown) but reminded us that "we never say hate, it is a mean, bad word". I could not agree more.

Nanny Nicole has helped us get Henny into a better sleeping routine! Welcome back Swaddle Me blankets and binky. Henny is learning a sleep schedule and how to soothe herself to sleep after we nurse, burp, snuggle, swaddle, paci, sing, rock, Sleep Sheep, pat, pray to the Patron Saint of Sleep, touch the door handle 5 times and tiptoe away (repeat 3 times).

Dear SoS Readers,

Two labor days in one year! That only happens once every 33 years. It's official, I am back to work. My first week went really well, everyone wanted to hear about the girls and my supervisor is very supportive of my flexible schedule so I am really lucky. Nanny Nicole was a hit with Nori...they are raising a tadpole, learning about the frog life cycle, studying letters, getting exercise, and having fun. She even got Baby Hen to nap which is a miracle in itself.

Please forgive me, but we finally have a moment to ourselves as the babes are now asleep. So you will understand that I have to keep this short in order to sit in front of Jake and get my back rubbed. More later...
