April snow showers

This has to be quick, Mad Men is recording (actually I still say "taping"). What started off as a rocky Friday morning, with me calling Jake at 8:30 a.m. to inform him I was never going to last the whole day alone with the kids, turned in to a fun albeit unproductive weekend  as it is Sunday night and I am sitting here in a messy house with nothing done. I hope our nanny does not call OSHA about unfit work environment.

As you may have heard, Nori ran in to the wall in our basement and cut her ear. She did have the good fortune of spending a few hours in the shiny new Amplatz Children's Hospital where she was promptly given the choice of  playing on an iPad or watching Brave. Two stitches later she was home and in bed, only 3 hours late.

Grandma Liz, Grandpa Steve, and Charlie arrived on Saturday for the baseball game. While the boys and Nori bundled up for the game, the girls went furniture shopping. Henley got to feed her "Gamma" addiction with lots cuddle time with Liz. Other weekend highlights include weird yoga posture with Pablo, pedicures, and a last minute pizza party with friends.

My girls have been extra sweet and loving, especially when I have them one-on-one (together they go bonkers except for the five minutes here and there when they play nicely).  All of those hugs and kisses make every day worth it!  My husband also continues to wow me, like when he gets annoyed at me for wearing his winter jacket to so in order to teach me a lesson, he wears mine out and about. What a hunk!

p.s. I am not sure if had heard, but Texas is a terrible place to live. Pass it on.

That is how Henny answers the phone now... " Hello! People?".

Guess who had a whole weekend home alone? Me. Well kinda, Jake Seltz was here... but Nori & Henley went to Winona with their beloved grandparents where they fed the ducks, ate Rocco's pizza, painted tiles, and whooped it up with G &G.  Meanwhile, Jake & I window shopped for furniture at West Elm, made our first ever trip to The Container Store, enjoyed dinner and cocktails at the Icehouse with Pat & Ang, slept in, cleaned the house (including kid's bedrooms, cupboards, and mudroom), exercised, watched Homeland, and missed our kids. It was a wonderful break but man, I was really lonely for little hugs and smoochie kisses from my high maintenance divas!  What would I do without them? A weekend off reminds me how lucky I am to have them up in my business 24/7 and how overrated peeing alone is.

April Fools - she "baked" Brown E's

I went to my acupuncturist for my bursitis and my grief. Weird combo, huh? She gave me Star of Bethlehem essence which is basically the energy of a flower which claims to "soften the impact of grief". Yes, I will buy anything. Jake played me a very sweet voice mail message he saved from my Dad which made me smile. It must have been right after my limo birthday surprise since my dad was thanking Jake for being so wonderful to his daughter and telling him he loved him.

P.S. I got a surprise visit from Sabrina who came bearing Cookie Dough Cupcakes! Also, thank you all for the wonderful cards and thoughtful messages. Trying to enjoy the upside to a down and out event!
